Igniting Creative Energy (ICE) is a national student challenge to motivate learning, ignite the imagination, and fuel the creative potential in youth.

Wesley
High School Grand Prize Winner

"In writing my song, “It’s a Beautiful World”, I was hoping to stress the importance of conserving energy..... Many people don’t realize how much a simple action, like walking to the store instead of driving, can help. With any luck at all, people who hear my rhythmic convictions will realize that they can make a difference. I once heard it said that 'Most people do nothing because they can’t do everything'...... I hope that my song will help to change this mindset and allow people to see that together, we can do great things."

Matthew
Middle School Grand Prize Winner

"This project has had an impact on my life. I learned about polystyrene, landfills, biodegradable products, cost analysis, and even how to make a movie on my computer. I have also educated many people in our school district (teachers, students and administrators) about being better stewards of our Earth.
"

Tessa
Elementary School Grand Prize Winner

"I love books. Mommy says that I have loved books since I was in her tummy waiting for my birthday. I also love making things. When I heard Mommy telling her students about the Igniting Creative Energy Challenge, I decided that I could write and illustrate my very own book while making things and that is how 'ABC's in My Trash' began. Maybe because I'm smaller, or younger, or shorter. I see things through imagination eyes."

Jean Kegerreis

Ms Kegerreis had the highest average score of her top 15 qualified student entries. She is a chemistry teacher at West Ottawa High School in Holland, MI
